Day 9 of 21: IF Seed
Did a little bit of sketching today, but I wasn't really in the mood... too tired I think. Anyway, here is my 15 minute sketch, please an extra I did yesterday. The bottom drawing came as a result of wanting to try my hand at doing a illustration that my be used in a textbook or instructional article. I consider it a bit more finished, so I watermarked it (not that many people looking to steal art come to my blog, but ya never know!).

It looks good. I could definetly see that in a text book. good job
Really good Tom! I like the boy on top a lot! His pose and expression are great! The only thing I would suggest (sorry if I'm being a pain) is to shorten his neck a bit. You can try it in photoshop if you like. Crop the head and paste it a bit lower, play with it until you have a hight that looks right to you. You'll see a difference. It is really a great sketch, you should take it to color.
The bottom one is very soft and stylized, very good Tom!
Thanks, Carli.
Alicia: Yes, long necks seem to be the bane of my drawing right now. :P
the second one is really good sketch, a watermelon seed from sowing to harvest,,, very nice.
Hey, Modigliani's necks were long, eh? Tee hee, but seriously...
I would like to bestow upon you the Pico Award, because I admire you putting yourself out there and I also appreciate all your wonderful comments. You can come to my blog for details.
Oh, and like both drawings, the bottom one is totally textbook-worthy. Keep up the good work!
Nice work, Tom!
I like the way your drawings are so expressive. The gardener looks very pleased with himself! :)
Hi Tom...
wonderful work for seed...love the boy planting his seed...and that instructional work is really nice...keep up the great work!
Nice job!The second does look like a "growth chart"... maybe you could add the time below each plants? Just a thought.. :)
Tom, the textbook sketch is beautiful! I am loving your pencil sketches...such great expressions! By the way...your spongebob cake rocks!
This second drawing is excellent, great shapes in the plants and good overall composition :)
Really nice job! I really love seeing how you drew the progression of the seed.
That's terrific Tom! The shading is awesome, great concept too.
Hi Tom, I am amazed at your son's cake too :)
This sketches are very nice, and you are right the second one deserved a watermark, it's really perfect for a textbook.
