This is excellent for a quick study, Tom. It's great to see you trying watercolors. I think you could use a bit more shading, with watercolors you can layer color on top of color, and this way add keep some areas light and others dark. You could do that a bit more on the snail blue "house" and perhaps add a few different shades of green on the landscape... But this is really good, and a fun idea!
I'm loving this watercolor Tom. Looks beautiful.
I do have a suggestion. Right now, my eye goes directly to the red mushroom house. The color is acting as a focal point. You don't want that, you want your focal point to be the car and the snail. So I you are planning on going with this color scheme then I think your should change the mushroom to another color maybe in oranges with red spots only and use the beautiful bold red in the car.
You'll se how your eye will go immediately there.

tom, this is so creative and sweet! You did a great job drawing the car in perspective. I have such a hard time with that. And, the expressions on the snail and ant are perfect!

This is the cutest idea for the theme! I just love it. It's great to see it in color too. Alicia, as usual had a great point. Stronger colors should be used on focal points, since your eye goes right to reds, etc.
But other than that, looks like watercolor is your thing! Not everyone is so successful with them this soon, or have you worked with them before?

Thanks, Linda. The last piece I did in watercolor was the IF: Blanket illustration. Since I have been trying to learn a bit more about the medium, and was careful to lay in the colors lightly with each layer.
I like Alicia's color suggestion. I would suggest inking it with either a dip pen, or a rapidograph. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with Alicia also. A red car would add balance and allow your eye toflow around the illustration.

I just happend to have left a comment for your first sketch, after I had seen Bee's wide fairies, which was great. I decided to delete it, and comment on the finished one, which came out amazing. Wether you decide to change anything its still a great piece.
