Inspiration is everywhere...

Went for a walk yesterday to get the mail, and interrupted a turtle doing his business, thus this sketch. Plan to color it soon!

I love the turtle's expression, not very pleased at being interrupted! I've been enjoying seeing your sketches, and your works in color!

Hee, hee.. Tom. I'm loving your last sketches! Lot's of good and fun storytelling!

He really looks like he is being interrupted! I wonder what section of the paper he is reading, or what paper for that matter... maybe the slow daily news.. he, he...

Adorable! I love that illustrators take an event in real life and transform it into something fun and entertaining. Love the look on his face ... Ooops!

I just stumbled onto your blog and took a look at most of your posts from Jan until now and your posts and work compelled me to write. Like you, I have read ‘Living the Creative Dream’ by Holly Conger and it was after that article that I decided to re-invent myself and switch from graphic/web design to illustration. I am still not quite sure where in the illustration world I will end up, but that is part of the journey.
I started my blog and the beginning of the month and I just completed my web site (www.tenengo.com). I am considering going to the Orlando Conference, but to the Saturday event, not the intensive (although I would rather go to the intensive).
Now that I have my site up and have been blogging for almost a month, my goal for June is to join the illustration Friday group and open up the door to all the great constructive criticism that helps artists grow, which brings me to my next point…I think you have grown a lot in the past few months with your illustrations, and I am glad that you find the need to draw every day after doing the 21 day challenge. I will definitely be back to see more of your work.

Thanks, everyone for the great comments. Sorry I haven't responded sooner. Been a busy weekend. My father-in-law had to go to the hospital Saturday morning for severe chest pains. Heart attack was ruled out, but they are doing tests to see if there was any damage to his heart. He was much improved Sunday. Hopefully get to go home by the end of the week!

I sure hope your father-in-law is feeling better and gets to go home soon. Sheesh, how scary.

Man, your turtle is hilarious! Not only are your drawings getting really good, but your story telling through the image is fantastic. What fun!

Thanks, Linda. He came home tonight, and is doing much better!

Now I just have to learn how to color these good drawings! :)
