Christmas Card rough

Here is a sketch of the idea I have for our family Christmas cards. I am very pleased with it, but am stumped on one aspect. I wanted to add a little dynamic to it by having the last child doing something other than just looking forward, so I added the dove flying overhead for him to look at. I would love to hear any suggestions you might have to offer on this, or anything else you think might improve the illustration.

I like how you added the dove and what it symbolizes to your holiday card, it adds a bit of motion to the piece and breaks up the linear aspect of the composition. Sometimes, when I add color to my final sketch, it also makes me rethink the piece and add something new towards the end. Not always the best thing to do upon finalization... but it does happen. Good luck with the card, I am anxious to see your finish. =)

The boy looking at the bird is my favorite part of your sketch. I agree with Lisa, the bird is very appropriate because of the symbolism. Very nice! Look forward to the color version!

Thanks, Edrian. Yeah, I want to do something different with the others faces to make them more interesting.

lovely sketch, with the childlike style matching the theme nicely! well, i'd add a bit more animation to the expressions, and the body language could be more loose and free, experimenting with the attitude and state of mind of the kids...
on the whole, a charming piece :)

I think this is lovely Tom and perfect as it is, I think that the carol singers should be expressionless except for the last one looking at the dove, it will make a beautiful Christmas card..
