Young love... colored

Did this watercolor in about 20 minutes today while burning some DVDs to clean up my computer. Still need practice, of course, but it came out OK. Should have resharpened the pencil before I outlined the girl. My shadows didn't come out like I wanted either. I have been observing others work and how they do shadows, and experimenting to see what works for me. Would love your thoughts...

I have applied for a job which, if I get it (and accept), would mean a big move for me and my family (from Florida to North Carolina), leaving our families here. This is the main reason I haven't been drawing much... Been researching the city and lifestyle quite a bit, praying, weighing pros and cons, and all the fun stuff that goes with it. So, any prayers or words of encouragement (or discouragement, if you feel so inclined) would be appreciated! And, if anyone has done a move such as this, I would love to hear your experience.

Well Tom, this is very exciting! I've heard North carolina is beautiful! Didn't you just go on a trip there recently?

If you move from florida you'll get to experience all the seasons! That is a plus in my opinion. I wish you the best of luck in your decision Tom! It is exciting :o)

Oh and the illo turned out really charming. I kind of like it without the dark shadows. It is a very sweet piece. :o)

Tom, thank you for the wonderful comment on my IF entry and yes, feel free to add me to your blog.

Good luck on you decision. I have a friend who lives near Raleigh NC and my son goes to college in Roanoke VA. I live near Syracuse NY and am just dying to move south. I say take opportunities as they come because at some point they stop coming.

Hi -

Thanks for stopping by my blog and I'd be happy to be part of your bloglist.

My cousin moved to North Carolina about a year ago from Southern California. The dollar goes a lot farther than it does here - they were able to buy a really nice, spacious home. It's beautiful country and I know they like it.

So....did you make yor decision yet?

NC is beautiful, from my understanding. The seasons are nice..mild, but definitely more seasonal than you have in Florida.

I have friends who lived here in IL, and were able to buy a beautiful home "outright" in NC. (but they have money to begin with....I am just saying it is beautiful and affordable in NC)

It is a big decision to move a family, but life is an adventure. I would say..."go for it"...but I wish it was me having to make that decision!

Kate: I haven't heard from the company yet about an interview. I am excited, but nervous... huge step for me and my wife. We have both lived here all our lives.

Curious about your last comment... are looking to move as well?
