Farewell Tiger

Hard for me to write this...

Friday we had to have our cat Tiger put to sleep. He had been sick, and over the period of two weeks, two of his legs got to where he could not put weight on them. I took him to the vet Friday for an exam, and blood tests revealed that he had FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Similar to HIV, but not communicable to humans. We weighed all the options, but in his current condition, and no cure for FIV, we felt it best to put him to rest.

One of THE hardest decisions ever! The way I have felt today, you would have thought I lost one of my children. But in a way I have. It is amazing how much a part of your life a pet becomes! How attached we are to them, and they to us. And the joys they bring to each day. Life truly won't be the same around here.

We miss you, Tiger. Rest in Peace!

Oh, Tom, I'm so very sorry to hear about Tiger. Pets are indeed part of our lives, and that's what makes them richer.
I know it does not make it easier, but Tiger obviously had a loving home throughout his life with you and he's now at peace.

I am so sorry to hear about your beautiful pet. It's never easy letting go of someone we love and I am sure it wasn't an easy decision to come by. Looks like you have some beautiful memories, as witnessed by the photos above. Take care-

Tom,
I was so sad to hear about your beloved Tiger. I have faced this same difficult decision with 2 dogs and indeed, it is devastating. I know your heart is raw right now, but please know that with each day your sweet memories of Tiger will eclipse the pain of your loss. The unconditional love we receive from our pets for the far-too-short time we have with them is so worth the sadness we feel as we lose them. The decision you made was out of love and the right one to make. What a lucky cat to have been loved as much as he was. You and your family are in my thoughts today.

I am so sorry. I can't imagine how hard it must have been but you made the right decision, I'm sure you know that.

Right now, Tiger is probably jumping from cloud to cloud chasing butterflies.

What a tender heart you have Tom! I know how difficult it is to let a loved pet go...holding their life in your hands. There will still be those days ahead when you'll see something he loved to rub against, or a place he chose to sleep most often, even some of his cat hair that used to be so annoying....and that emptiness and ache will come back...I find when those times have come to me that I have to remember how much joy they gave me, and how really lucky I was they chose me too.

Awww...this must be so hard. I feel your pain. I honestly never thought I could ever get as attached to my dog as I have, and cannot imagine life without her at my side. Pets go through all of the ups and downs, relationships, births, deaths....always loyal. I am sorry for your loss.
