Been a while since I posted a drawing. Been real busy with work, family, etc. I have been drawing quite a bit, mostly kids and faces. I did manage to get two previous drawings colored (above). Both are colored pencil; the dragon I did on plain copy paper, and the turtle on "sketching" paper. I enjoyed coloring both, and it was neat to see them come to life as I progressed. I like the smoothness of the copy paper (want to get some smooth Bristol paper soon to try that).
Below are some of the quick sketches I did during my "time off".
My goal now is to really focus on getting some smidgen of a portfolio started, using this post as a base (thanks Jen for the link). I have been on my journey for about 5 months now, and think I have come a long way. My goal is to have a good starting portfolio 7 months from now, maybe sooner. We'll see what happens! : )

I love both colored pencil ones. Really good job on them. I love that you chose to color the little flower on the turtle one, red. Perfect :o)
The sketches are also really good. My fav is the last one.

You've been quite busy sketching! I really like the sketches you posted. I agree with Alicia, I really like the last one. It shows a lot of personality and it's intriguing.
Thanks for the link about putting together a portfolio. It is really useful information. I will be heading down that path a few months from now. I am still trying to figure out which style/medium to call my own. In fact, I have a poll going on at my blog to get people's feedback. I hope I get yours....

Hi Tom...nice stuff going on here. I love what hapens to your drawings when you apply color! These are very cute and I think they wouldl appeal to little kids who love big, happy characters and lots of color!

Your characters in colour are super, great poses and I'm always a fan of bunnies with giant carrots!
I really like the colors in the dragon, they are really rich and inviting and this character looks like he is just itching to be part of a childrens book. The sketches look good too, your expressions are really coming along.
