Here is a preliminary sketch for a personal project I am working on. The frogs are playing "leap frog". After much sketching and looking at pictures of frogs, I am happy with this version. Let me know what you think!
Hey Tom! You are on a roll here, making wonderful sketches! :o)
I love these froggies. I like the fact that they are looking at each other and their faces are really cute. I wouldn't change a thing on them! It only needs a place to be, maybe a pond, or on a lilly pad. If they are on water maybe you can add a few drops of water falling from the back legs of the jumping frog.
Thanks, Alicia. I am really happy with the way these came out. I might turn the top frog head up a bit so it doesn't look like he is going to land on it! :) The bottom one will be on a lily pad.
Hi Tom, great frogs! It's so hard to capture movement isn't it? You've certainly done it here. Thanks for your comment on my blog, it would be an honour to be on your list thanks! :)
These are some cute lil frogs. You really did capture the movement just right and they look like they're having the time of their lives, heehee. Can't wait to see it in color.
Thanks, Jess and Linda. Yes, showing movement is quite hard. The hardest part of this one was the top frog's arms. I want them to look like he just pushed off the back of the other. I have redone the movement lines (is that what you call them?), which I think shows the movement of the arms better. Hope to have the colors versions (that's right, more than one) up next week.
You have to find something unique in the book which perhaps even the author was not entirely aware of, and that's what you hold on to and that's what you add to the pictures... a whole other story that you believe in... that you think is there. ~ Maurice Sendak

Thanks, Diana. Check back as I will be uploading color version soon.
